The little Black dress and all its offshoots
Originally termed as the little black dress because of the massive popularity of the small little black dress and it becoming a staple in the wardrobe of virtually every woman in the world, the culture of dresses has now evolved to a very large extent to become extremely classy, varied and unique. There are several ways in which people choose their dresses and more often than not women have a collection of these dresses that they can wear on a multitude of occasions. A very broad classification would be to define the use of these dresses according to occasions. These include cocktail dresses, evening dresses, lounge and party wear, casual dresses, summer dresses and so on. This is however a very broad classification and these dresses can be further classified.
One of the major ways of classification can be to differentiate on the basis of the materials and embellishments used in the making of the little black dress and they may include fabrics such as chiffon, satin, lace, charmeuse, tulle, organza, silk, cotton and taffeta and accessories such as bows, belts, clips, ribbons and any other embellishments. As such, people can choose from the fabrics and the accessories that are in line with their tastes and needs. Another major way of differentiation includes segregation by the cut of the dress which includes options such as A-Line, Sheath, Ball gown, empire, vintage, chic, modern and so on. Another major way of differentiation is by the desired length of the little black dress and this can include options such as knee length, floor length, tea length, asymmetrical, ankle length and mini dresses. As such, this is one of the major ways which people use to choose their dresses.
Once all the above factors have been weighed, people can then use the necklines to differentiate between dresses and choose the little black dress that suits them the best. On the whole, there are different types of necklines and these include v-necks, square cuts, halters, high necks, Queen Anne, jewel designs, spaghetti straps, and strapless, off shoulder, one shoulder and also scoop cuts. These are basically all the ways in which the
little black dress
can be differentiated and women often use a combination of these ways in order to achieve the perfect dress. There are several other ways and means which include pricing, brands and so on. In spite of their being such a multitude of options, every woman often manages to find the perfect little black dress that suits her style and glamour statement and makes for a very beautiful sight on the whole.
